Dear fellow humans who believe in the cause
of World Harmony Day: thank you so much for coming here and
sharing these precious moments. I am with you all in spirit.
My old aunt, auntie Harnam, who brought me up from age 6 monts
to abt 6 yrs, passed away this morning on the way to hospital
in ipoh. I am heading to Ipoh for the final prayers for this
most gentle of human souls. My aunt characterised world harmony:
she was very friendly with ALL in her neighbourhood regardless
of backgrounds. Right to the end she always told me, "Kirpal,
always respect each and every living person, for they are
all god's special creations and all are beautiful." She
truly believed in the humanity each one of us carries. She
truly believed that peace, love and understanding are possible....
And it is this belief that peace, love and understanding
are possible which brings all of us here today. For too long
the world has seen brutalities arising out of misunderstandings
and ill-will. We need to constantly keep reminding ourselves
that no matter how different we may appear to be at heart
we are all in desperate search for peace, love and understanding.
We want the world to be a better place, not only for ourselves
but for the generations to come. We want us to engage each
other in meaningful dialogues/multilogues so that through
frank and honest and respectful discussion we can all know
each other better. This is a most urgent need and we must
respond urgently.
As we say a silent prayer for world harmony let us not be
distracted by those who feel cynical or skeptical or even
indifferent to the likes of us. They, too, are special and
we want to include them in our search for world harmony. If
we represent ourselves honestly I am convinced we will succeed
in our quest for a more harmonious world where, as the great
indian nobel prize alureatte Rabindranath Tagore said in his
immortal poem Gitanjali, on the seashore of endless worlds
little children will run and play in unison, where the world
will not be broken and fragmented into narrow walls, where
we will all enjoy peace and love and understanding.
May god bless us all as we pray for world harmony and may
He guide us in all we do.
Thank you for listening to this.
Kirpal Singh.
