Change the world for the better: The power is in your
hands
Dear Mr. Bono,
My name is Sunflower Chong and I come from Singapore.
Your passion for the eradication of Third World Debt
and other worthy causes is well known and I believe
that the world needs you now more than ever.
We are answering your call when you mentioned that
"the world needs to be tempered with compassion and
understanding or we risk being blinded to the crises
in other parts of the world."
Our proposal is; calling for World Harmony Day on 20
February 2002 at time 20:02pm. A time when people all
around the world will come together in large groups to
hold a 2-minutes Peace Silence. It will be a great
challenge for all of us to make 200220022002 a
reality.
This event could very well become a milestone in the
history of peace making. All it needs is your belief
that this CAN actually happen and your ability to
spread the word.
In an interview with The Sun's (UK) Dominic Mohan, you
shared the news that the band is already back in the
studio working on new songs. U2 can take the
leadership role in helping the world not only in
reducing third world debts but also by giving hope to
the world through their new album music by steering
the world towards peace.
One of our aspirations is that U2 will choose back our
idea inspired by time itself and support 'World
Harmony Day" on 200220022002. Maybe you could even
think about a song to help commemorate this day. After
the 2 minutes Peace Silence (2 represents harmony),
the whole world will hear U2 (U2 represent unity and
harmony) carry the unforgettable new tune singing for
peace.
Please lend your voice and the weight of U2's support
to help restore unity and harmony to our world for our
sake and more importantly, for the sake of all our
children. Let's make February 20th a day that serves
to remind us that peace can be achieved through
positive action.
I do realize that you must truly be a very busy man
therefore I thank you for your precious time.
Yours Truly,
Sunflower Chong
